Tandis que l’orage menace, Richard, un metteur en scène sur le retour, vient dispenser son premier cours de théâtre en centrale. Il espère une forte affluence qui entraînerait d’autres cours – et d’autres cachets, mais seuls deux détenus se présentent : Kevin, un jeune chien fou, et Ange, la cinquantaine mutique, qui n’est là que pour accompagner son ami. Richard, secondé par une de ses anciennes actrices – accessoirement son ex-femme – et par une assistante sociale inexpérimentée, choisit de donner quand même son cours…
